Chalermchai’s works are unique, whether they are sculptures or Buddhist art painting, in which Bangkok Art Auction has selected 3 styles of Chalermchai Kositpipat’s works for everyone to see at The Iconic Treasure sale on September 11th, 2022.

Imaginary Dragon

Chalermchai’s first piece in the show is Imaginary Dragon, which tells the story of Chalermchai’s life; the meeting of his father and mother at the Mekong River through the dragon. The dragon represents a combination of his Chinese father and Thai mother from Mekong River in a Thai traditional style. This style is rarely seen in Chalermchai’s work.

Ganesha

The second piece is a bronze sculpture. Everyone who has been to Wat Rong Khun must be familiar with this Ganesha sculpture because it is an original model work of the large Ganesha sculpture, which is enshrined at Wat Rong Khun, Chaing Rai Province.

The Town of Luxor

The last piece of Chalermchai in this show is rare and has a different atmosphere. This piece is uncommon among other works from Chalermchai. He drew The Town of Luxor while traveling to Luxor, Egypt. It’s one of a few real-life sketches he did, drawn with sharp and quick lines. Contexts, techniques, and medium make this work a very special and interesting piece.
